nothing is worse than low water pressure
Are you in need of a Fallbrook water pressure specialist? At Big B's Plumbing, our technicians address both high and low water pressure conditions. Nothing is worse than taking a shower with low water pressure. Some water pressure problems don't require a plumber. For example, if the water pressures confined to a couple of areas in the house such as a faucet or shower, then the problem could be a shower head that needs cleaning. Over time calcium and mineral deposits build up on the shower head causing it to clog.
A Clogged Showerhead Could Cause Low Water Pressure
Here's how to clean a showerhead that's been overcome with mineral deposits. Remove the showerhead and soak it in a 50/50 solution of distilled vinegar and water in a plastic bag–––a large freezer bag that seals is the best. If it's heavily crusted with mineral deposits use straight vinegar. Let soak for two hours and check on the results. If it requires more time then allow it to set longer. Make sure the vinegar doesn't have an adverse effect on the shower head’s finish. If your showerhead is old, you can buy a new one for less than thirty dollars.
Replace You Faucet Aerator
If your faucet has low water pressure, replace the aerator. For those of us that don't know what it is, the aerator is the small screen that attaches to the faucet head. A brand new aerator costs less than ten dollars and screws to the end of the faucet. If you have any questions, your Fallbrook water pressure specialist will guide you through the process.
Call Your Fallbrook Water Pressure Specialist
If your low water pressure gradually got worse over an extended period, then you may need your pipes examined by a plumbing expert because they might be clogging. There are some other obvious places to check, for instance, check the shut-off valve next to your water heater. Make sure it's completely open. If your water pressure became low overnight, then check with your neighbors. See if their water pressure is low. If it is, chances are there is city construction going on in the area. For less than fifteen dollars, you can buy a water pressure test gauge that fits right on any faucet. The perfect reading is from 45 to 60 psi.
High Water Pressure Cal Also Be A Problem
Your water pressure regulator manages the water pressure in your home. While they are known to last twenty years or longer, it's not uncommon for one break down. Some of the more advanced regulators have a pressure gauge built right in. With that said, high water pressure can wreak havoc on our pipes so regulating the water pressure correctly is essential. Water pressure that hits or exceeds 80 psi can also cause damage to appliances including water heaters. Your Fallbrook water pressure specialist will diagnose the problem and have your home running as good as new. License #986152
